Abstract

Vitamin C is essential for the human body. The most common method of receiving this Vitamin is through the consumption of a common fruit: oranges. This investigation aimed to find out the optimal temperature and place to store oranges, such that maximum Vitamin C retention could be ensured. To find out the rate of degradation of the vitamin C in the oranges, the process of titration had been used. The collected data showed that oranges placed in an average temperature of 5 degree celsius, in a refrigerator, had the most amount of vitamin C retained at the end of the experiment. Therefore, it was concluded that the best place to store oranges was in the refrigerator, as per the hypothesis of this investigation stated.
